The Golden Eagle Marching has been very active this school year. The group performed at Hornets basketball games, for the RTA’s dedication for the return of the St. Charles streetcar, for the National Heart Walk-a-thon with Richard Simmons and at the Southeast regional battle of the bands where Warren Easton won first place. The band also marched in the nine Mardi Gras parades, placing first in the Shangri-La band contest, and third place in the Rex band competition.

Posted: March 08, 2008

Proceeds to benefit future Easton School Based Health Center

WARREN EASTON’S ALUMNI, FAMILY AND FRIENDS FEST will take place on Saturday, March 29 from 10am-4pm at Easton Park, 600 N. Lopez Street, in New Orleans. All proceeds will benefit the future Warren Easton High School Based Health Center, which is expected open in the 2008/2009 school year. The facility, which will be housed in the renovated caretaker’s cottage in the rear of the school, will provide much-needed health care to Warren Easton students and will eventually serve the health needs of the Mid-City community after school hours.

The Festival will have food booths, games, sports activities, a silent auction and multiple space walks. There will be live music, DJs and a performance by the Warren Easton band. A special tribute will be paid to fallen NOPD office Nicola Cotton, a 2001 graduate of Warren Easton.

“We are thrilled to have such amazing partners as the Kellogg Foundation, Tulane University Hospital, the School Health Connection and the LPHI,” said Billy Hatchett, president of the Warren Easton High School Charter Foundation, “The Fest will help unite our community behind this worthy cause, while providing a great time in the process.”

Admission to the Fest is $5 per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free. For more information, contact Janet Gaudet at (504) 324-7436 or 338 6800.
