Warren Easton Hall of Fame

Warren Easton, the city’s oldest public high school, is also the only such institution in New Orleans to have established a Hall of Fame. During the past eight decades, more than 20,000 students have graduated from the Canal Street landmark which opened as Boys High School in 1913, but whose roots date to its predecessor school which opened in 1845.

In 1987, a 75th anniversary celebration was held at the Louisiana Superdome. The outgrowth of this gathering was the formation of the Warren Easton Hall of Fame Committee. Since 1991, more than 100 members of the Easton family have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Under its auspices, the Hall of Fame committee has also awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors, provided the school with needed equipment and supplies, and presented faculty members with more than $14,000 in cash awards.

Selection to the Warren Easton Hall of Fame is based upon outstanding contribution to the community, excellence of character, significant professional accomplishments and a demonstrated love for Warren Easton High School. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize Warren Easton alumni and members of the Easton family for their achievements and to set a standard for current students and future graduates.
